Stopping and Starting a Recording During a Call

You can now stop recording partway through a call and start again when you're ready. Everything you record is stitched into a single recording, so the call looks the same as any other when you play it back.

Please note: Anything said while recording is stopped is not saved anywhere, so it cannot be recovered later. If you forget to start recording again, that portion of the conversation will not appear in the recording or the transcript.

When to use this

A candidate does not want to be recorded. If someone asks you not to record after the call has started, you can stop the recording and carry on in Honeit. There's no need to move the conversation to a phone call, so you keep your questions, notepad, skill tags and the contact record intact.

A candidate wants to share something off the record. Compensation, a reason for leaving, or personal circumstances all come up mid-interview. You can stop recording for that part of the conversation and start again once you move on.

Something interrupts the call. A knock at the door or a moment you'd rather not capture is easy to leave out.

Good to know

  • The recording controls are available throughout the call, so you can stop and start as many times as you need.

  • Everything you record is combined into one recording, transcript and set of highlights.

  • Anything said while recording is stopped is not captured in the recording or transcript.

  • The call timer at the top left is your recording indicator. A red dot appears beside it while a recording is in progress.

Stopping a recording

  1. Click Stop Recording in the top toolbar.

  2. The recording timer on the top left corner will dim and the red dot will disappear.

Your conversation continues as normal. Only the recording stops.

Starting the recording again

  1. Click Start Recording.

  2. The recording disclaimer will appear. Click Continue.

  3. The recording timer on the top left corner will reactivate and the red dot will reappear.

Participants will see or hear a recording notice each time you start. We recommend giving a quick verbal reminder as well, both as a courtesy and to meet GDPR requirements.

Playing back the call

When the call ends, hang up the call as you normally do. The call will appear as one continuous recording. A marker will appear on the playback timeline at each point where recording was stopped and started again.
